Why People Make the Switch
Most clients arrive at the studio for one of three reasons: they've developed scalp sensitivity that conventional color is making worse, they've noticed years of color damage compounding into brittle, dull hair, or they're consciously reducing chemical exposure for pregnancy, nursing, or general wellness reasons — a holistic decision that has real, measurable benefits. All three are good reasons, and all three are easily addressed by the non-toxic systems we use.
Will the Color Look Different?
On your first visit, no — the goal is a seamless match to your existing tone. The chemistry is different but the color theory is identical, so we can replicate (or improve on) what you're used to seeing. Many clients actually report better tonal accuracy and longer-lasting vibrancy after the switch, partly because their hair is healthier and partly because the conditioning oils in the formula leave the cuticle smoother and more reflective.
What the First Appointment Looks Like
We'll start with a 15-minute consultation: I want to see your current color in natural light, hear your history, and understand what you've liked and disliked about previous services. Then we mix a formula specific to your tone goals and your hair's condition. Processing time is similar to conventional color (usually 30–45 minutes), but you'll notice immediately that there's no ammonia smell and no scalp tingle. We finish with a sulfate-free wash, a bond-supporting conditioning step, and a styled blow-dry.
What Changes Between Visits
After two or three appointments on the new system, most clients notice their hair feels softer, looks shinier, and tangles less. Color holds tone longer because the cuticle isn't being repeatedly stressed. Scalp sensitivity typically resolves within the first one or two visits as exposure to harsh ingredients is removed.
The Aftercare Routine
I'll send you home with a sulfate-free shampoo recommendation and a weekly mask cadence built specifically for your hair. The basics: wash less often than you think, use cool water for the final rinse, avoid clarifying shampoos that strip color, and protect your hair from chlorine and heat styling. A simple routine, faithfully kept, will extend your color by weeks.
