A Studio Built Around the Chair
The Lisa May studio in Clovis, NM is a one-chair, one-client-at-a-time space. There's no overlap, no double-booking, no front-desk chatter, and no waiting room. When you book, the studio is yours for your appointment — the consultation isn't rushed, the conversation isn't interrupted, and the work isn't traded off against three other heads in foils. It's the way I always wanted to practice: deliberate, calm, and undivided.
Editorial Roots, Local Practice
My background is in editorial styling — the world of shoots, runways, and tightly considered finishes. That training shapes how I approach every cut and color in the studio: shape over speed, considered placement over volume, and a finished look that lives well in real movement. You don't have to fly to a coast to get that quality of work; the same standards travel down to Clovis.
Harsh Chemical Free, By Intention
Everything we use in the studio is free of harsh chemicals: formaldehyde, parabens, sulfates, gluten, preservatives, and alcohol. Our color systems, lighteners, shampoos, and treatments are built using ingredients made from nature, not natural ingredients made from chemicals. Eco-certified in this studio refers to the Lisa May brand standard — not a third-party badge — and it shapes every product on the shelf and every formula that gets mixed. This is what a genuinely non-toxic studio looks like in practice.

While the Lisa May brand reaches nationally through our harsh chemical free hair care line, this studio remains the heartbeat of my practice. The product brand exists because the in-chair work demanded it — clients kept asking what they could take home, so we made it. The studio came first. It still does.

The studio serves Clovis and the surrounding Curry and Roosevelt County communities — Portales, Texico, Melrose, Grady, Cannon AFB — as well as clients who make the drive from Roswell and beyond for color correction, balayage, and hair restoration work. If you've been frustrated with the local options, or you're tired of driving four hours for a colorist who actually listens, we should talk.
